free vibration of simply supported rectangular composite plates with patch mass
Authors
abstract
the effect of a distributed patch mass on the natural frequency of vibration of a laminated rectangular plate with simply supported boundaries is investigated. the third order displacement field of a composite laminated rectangular plate is defined using the two variable refined plate theory. equations of motion of the plate are obtained with the help of calculus of variation. parametric study of non-dimensional natural frequencies of vibration is carried out and the effects of geometrical parameters such as the aspect ratio of the plate, size and location of the patch mass on these frequencies are studied. the results are then compared with those reported using the third order shear deformation theory. the results are found to be in very good agreement.

full textThe Effect of Anisotropy on Free Vibration of Rectangular Composite Plates with Patch Mass
In this paper, the effect of anisotropy on the free vibration of laminated rectangular plate supporting a localized patch mass is investigated. The two variable refined plate theory is applied to define the third order displacement field of a composite rectangular plate. The plate is considered to have simply supported boundaries. The equations of motion for rectangular plate are obtained by ca...
full textFree vibration of rectangular plates with continuously distributed spring-mass
The vibratory characteristics of rectangular plates attached with continuously and uniformly distributed spring-mass in a rectangular region are studied which may represent free vibration of a human–structure system. Firstly, the governing differential equations of a plate with uniformly distributed spring-mass are developed. When the spring-mass fully occupies the plate, the natural frequencie...
full textBuckling Analysis of Thin Functionally Graded Rectangular Plates with two Opposite Edges Simply Supported
In this article, an exact analytical solution for thermal buckling analysis of thin functionallygraded (FG) rectangular plates is presented. Based on the classical plate theory and using the principle ofminimum total potential energy, the stability equations are obtained. Since the material properties in FGmaterials are functions of the coordinates (specially the thickness), the stability equat...
full textTransverse Vibration of Clamped and Simply Supported Circular Plates with an Eccentric Circular Perforation and Attached Concentrated Mass
In this investigation Rayleigh-Ritz variational method has been applied to determine the least natural frequency coefficient for the title problem. Classical plate theory assumptions have been used to calculate strain energy and kinetic energy. Coordinate functions are combination of polynomials which satisfy boundary conditions at the outer boundary and trigonometric terms. In the second part ...
